Health is one of the leading concerns of our age: from the viewpoint of industry, politics and the health sector itself it is not only a medical, social and demographic challenge but also a key value-added factor, and in NRW by far the largest employer. The Regional Competence Center for Health Management and Public Health, an institute of UW’s Schumpeter School of Business and Economics is embedded within a regional network of clinics, health auth orities and insurance organizations that focus jointly on this complex interface. Seeking sustained solutions for current and future problems, the Institute engages in interdisciplinary research, teaching and consultation. New degree programs include a twin-track BSc and an MBA (to be followed by an MSc) in Health Economics and Man - agement, and the Institute’s mission extends to raising health awareness across UW faculties, the development of consultation facilities, and the enhancing of communications in the regional health sector.
